Questions about building a course
How do I map course, module and lesson?
Through series: the series is the course, the season is the module, the episode is the lesson. That keeps the order intact and lets progress be stored per participant. Collections and categories sit across all of it if you also want to sort by topic.
Can I test a course internally first?
Yes. A video set to private is invisible in the portal; unlisted means it appears in no overview but can be reached through a direct link. That lets you check a cut with a few testers before the course opens.
Can I add chapter marks and subtitles?
Yes, both after the upload and without re-rendering. Chapter marks can be set or imported as a file, subtitles uploaded in several languages with one of them set as the default.
What happens when a participant has a weak connection?
The player switches between quality levels during playback instead of stalling. That is exactly why every video is transcoded into several levels on upload.
Do I have to choose between embedding and my own portal?
No. Both are part of every plan and both can run side by side: a sample lesson embedded on your website, the paid rest inside the portal behind the login.

Where a video course here reaches its limit
Four things videos alone will not solve.
- Scheduled release Lessons cannot open automatically week by week. If you want to drip content, you release it yourself or steer that from the course platform in front.
- Tests and assignments There are no quizzes, no submitted work and no proof of completion. If your course format needs that, a learning platform stays necessary; the videos can still live here.
- Branching learning paths The path cannot change based on what a participant answers. What is possible are chapter marks, subtitles, and overlays or end cards pointing to another video or an address.
- Sales and invoicing Landing page, cart, vouchers and invoices to participants belong to your shop. AboveStream takes care of delivering the videos and controlling access.
