04 Rollout
How you put AboveStream into operation
The order in which a company gets from sign-up to the first released video.
-
01
Create a workspace
Sign up for free, no credit card. The workspace belongs to your company; colleagues join later with roles of their own.
-
02
Request the DPA
We provide the data processing agreement on request. Do this early and it is on file before the first video with personal data goes up.
-
03
Upload and file your videos
Folders mirror your internal structure, for example onboarding, compliance, products. Transcoding to HLS runs automatically; you only upload the source material.
-
04
Set access
Per video public, unlisted or private. On top of that password protection, a domain whitelist for embedding, and share links that expire by date or view count.
-
05
Embed or open the portal
Product videos go into your website or intranet via embed code. For training you open the portal instead, with accounts of your own and optionally your own domain.

06 Questions
What companies settle before rolling this out
How do we prove that someone watched a training video?
You see per video how long and how far it was watched, and for signed-in users the progress within a series as well.
That is an analysis, not proof of examination: there are no tests and no certificates. Where a formal record is required, your learning management system stays in charge — the videos can be embedded there and still live with us.
Can we control who sees which videos?
Yes, on two levels. Inside the workspace several people work with different roles. On the viewer side, visibility per video, password protection, portal accounts and expiring share links decide who gets in.
Can videos be restricted to the intranet?
With the domain whitelist an embedded video only plays on the addresses you release. If someone calls the embed from another site, the player stays empty. Playback can also be bound to an IP and embeds can be signed.
Where is the data and who can reach it?
Core processing runs in German data centres certified to ISO 27001. There is no transfer to the US and no advertising trackers are involved. For your documentation we provide the DPA.
More on the DPAHow many people can work in the workspace?
That depends on the plan and ranges from a single person to a team with separate roles and an activity log. The number per plan is in the pricing overview.

What AboveStream is not the right tool for in a company
Four cases where you should plan differently.
- Learning management There are no tests, no certificates and no mandatory training with deadlines. If HR needs a defensible record, you still need an LMS — AboveStream then supplies the videos for it.
- Live sessions Town halls and video conferences as they happen keep running through your conferencing tool. AboveStream is built for recordings: putting the recording here afterwards is exactly right.
- File storage This is not document management. Manuals, slide decks and spreadsheets stay in your intranet or on your drive; what lives here is video and audio.
- Video production Recording, editing and mixing happen beforehand. Afterwards you can add chapter marks, subtitles and thumbnails, but the material itself stays as it is.
